A Cleansing Review: Pureology

I received 2 samples of Pureology Cleansing Condition from Reflections Salon of Mason City for the purpose of reviewing.  All thoughts & opinions are my own and 100% honest.

I hate spending money on things like hair products, laundry detergent, and deodorant.  That being said, I also hate not having my hair do what I want it to do.  I have very fine hair that has a lot of natural curl and frizz to it.  So, for the past several years I’ve been spending more money on styling products than I ever used to to get it to do what I want it to do (and it sometimes still doesn’t, ugh)!  Because I’ve spent money on the styling products, I will admit that I usually go drug store brand (read: cheaper) for shampoo and conditioner.  So, when Diane of Reflections Salon in Mason City offered the opportunity to try some samples of a salon product, I jumped at the chance!

I have to admit that the first day I was a bad girl and didn’t read the directions on the samples.  Diane provided us samples of Pureology Cleansing Condition, which I assumed was a conditioner, which it is…and isn’t!  How exciting to find out that high end products and adults products are now coming as a 2 in 1!  The first day I washed my hair with my regular shampoo and then used the Pureology Strength Cure.  Imagine my surprise when this “conditioner” provided bubbles!  Color my face red when I read the directions!  Oh well, I proceeded onward.  The Strength Cure is described as “gentle, low-lather formula conditions as it cleanses sensitve, damaged hair.  One step-rinsing limits hairs exposure to water, thus helping maintain beautiful color.”  Now, I don’t have colored hair and my is pretty dang healthy, but I did learn that the less water hair is exposed to, the better!  The third day I sampled Hydrate Cleansing Condition (“this formula with Rosemary Extra and the exclusive AntiFadeComplex helps hydrate, soften,a nd improve hair’s elasticity while helping to protect hair from daily aggressors”).  A few thoughts on both products!

  • Strength Cure had a scent that I didn’t care for and was so potent that I could smell it on my hair all day.
  • Hydrate had an amazing smell (kind of peppermintish) and I would purchase this kind strictly for that!
  • Having a 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner is fantastic and I really enjoyed cutting down on my shower time.
  • Neither of the products made my hair feel heavy or weighted down after washing.
  • My hair felt clean, but not perhaps as well conditioned as I like.  However, that could have been due to being restricted to the sample amount!
  • Pureology products are great ones!  I can tell that even if these samples weren’t ideal for my hair type.  I actually already use another Pureology product, their 21 Essential Benefits spray and I love it!

Thank you to Diane and Reflections Salon for giving me the opportunity to try out these products and if you’re in the Mason City area, swing by and say hi to the crew!!  You can also connect with them on Facebook to see what they are up to, what deals they have going on and the services they provide!
