Top Recipes 2014-2017

Typically, each January (or end of December), you see these posts floating around from bloggers.  Their top posts from each year!  I’m a little late to this game, but remember…life is slowing down, which means I have more time to get things published! I figured it probably didn’t matter to you if I was a little later on this post. Some people scoff at these type of posts, but personally, I like having my favorites all in one spot, so I’m doing this anyway!

I decided to go with the top 10 recipes from my first 4 years of blogging!  Why limit myself to one year since this is my first post like this?!  I’ve had a lot of great recipes over the years, so I thought I would include each of them!  However, they ended up all being from 2016 and 2017!  That’s ok though!  Without further adieu….

Campfire Cinnamon Bites

This recipe came about when T and I were camping, experimenting with food (one of our favorite pastimes of camping) and became VERY popular with our whole family!

Our Favorite Things…Branson Style

Our Favorite Things…Branson Style

I can hardly believe that it’s been over 2 weeks since we’ve been from our family vacation in Branson! I swear the older I get the faster time goes! But, I digress…we had such a fantastic time in Branson and all four of us have actually commented, “I’ll go back!”  So, what were our favorite parts about Branson?  Here they are…and in no particular order!

Top of the Rock/Lost Canyon Tours

A friend of mine recommended the Lost Canyon Tours at Top of the Rock to me and so I had to look into!  You are able to go on self-guided tours along their path with a golf cart through the canyon and caves and my interest was peaked.  This is something right up the boys’ alley and it didn’t sound so bad to me either!  They weren’t wrong and neither was I!  Being outside and closer to nature (away from the hustle and bustle of the city is fantastic).  Plus the views aren’t too shabby either!

Campfire Cinnamon Bites

Campfire Cinnamon Bites

We’re always looking for fun new foods and dishes to make when camping and these Campfire Cinnamon Bites are just that!  And the best party?   They are super simple and extra tasty!

Recently on a camping trip of just T and I we decided to experiment.  We do this a lot.  We typically test things out and then introduce them to the boys if they are a success.  I can guarantee that we’ll be introducing these to the boys!

South Dakota: A Family’s Playground, Part 1

I can’t believe it’s been over a week since we returned from the #FlintsTakeSD trip!  Life has continued on in full force and we’re in the homestretch before football season starts and then school.  As life continues on, I’m struggling to collect my thoughts about our vacation to South Dakota and so I decided to start with our recommendations for where to visit!  Due to there being so many this will be broken into several different posts!  So, without further ado….thing things that we think make South Dakota a Family’s Playground!

Mount Rushmore KOA/Pulmer Gulch Resort

As many of my followers know, our family recently returned from our yearly family vacation to South Dakota. We had a fantastic time full of laughs, great weather, adventures, and memories to last a lifetime!  One of the things that helped this was our stay at the Pulmer Gulch Resort/Mount Rushmore KOA.

Finding the Right Campground

Since the boys (all 3) and myself are campers, we knew we wanted to stay at a great campground. We also knew it would need to be a KOA since those are our favorite for long stays due to full-hook ups (water and sewer at the site).  We are also KOA members, which means a discount! (WOOHOO!) We started researching and were pleased to find that there are numerous KOA facilities within South Dakota.  T did the majority of the research, I must admit, but did a fantastic job and decided on the Mount Rushmore KOA at Palmer Gulch in Hill City, SD for our visit.  He made a great choice!  Why so great?  Here are our pro’s & con’s from our visit!

A Weekend for Us…Full of Camping Food!

This past weekend, T and I took off for a weekend of us. No kids, just us and the dog! We don’t do this all too often, but we try to do it a couple times a summer at least when we can camp.  You can read about the times we did this last summer at:

Our Amana Excursion and Doing Nothing

This trip actually started off kind of as a challenge.  The weekend before we had been camping with the boys and discussing the 4th of July weekend and T mentioned that he wished we could go camping somewhere because we were both lucky enough to have Friday off…well, I told him tht there was no way he was going to find a spot only 5 days out from the big weekend…challenge accepted by T and successfully completed.  He booked us spots for Friday & Saturday night at the Lost Island KOA in Waterloo, Iowa.

We Need In-Home Pet Sitters & a PETCO Giveaway!

In case you didn’t know, Nike is our beloved Shiba Inu.  She is the queen of our family and the only other female in my boy-dominated house! She is also very much a momma’s girl and a diva! I wrote a whole post dedicated to her awhile back that you can find HERE!

Spring is here and summertime is fast approaching.  Nike LOVES this time of year for several reasons.  She loves just laying outside and watch the world go by. She also loves this time of year because the whole family spends lot’s of extra time outside and much more of it together!

Spring Cleaning: Camper Style

Oh! It’s finally April!  That means spring cleaning.   That also means the camper comes out of winter storage (a machine shed we rent at a farm) and comes home!! WAAAA! (Did you hear the heavens open up?) I’m actually more excited to start camping this year more than any year in the past? Why, I’m not sure, but I’m positive it has something to do with being at a job in which I don’t have to work nights and weekends and have a fraction of the stress! Anywho…after talking camping a few days ago with Jenni of Sincerely Jenni on Twitter, my mind has just been spinning thinking about getting it home, opened up (and aired out), cleaned, and stocked…ready to go for the first time of the season!
