Share Your World 2014: Week 40

My friend Beth Ann from It’s Just Life posted this the other day.  I don’t know if I can do this, but I decided I’m going to just “join in”, right now!  She got the questions from Cee’s Photography and I loved them, so I decided I wanted to be a part of this cool weekly initiative!

You’re given $500,000 dollars tax free (any currency), what do you spend it on? I would start by paying off our debt and putting a sum into trust funds for the boys for their college educations.  Then, I would donate some to a charity that we decided on together as a family.  Finally, there would be two vacations.: One for all 4 of us and one for just T & I!

What’s the finest education? While I appreciate my BA and the memories that I gained while earning it, I believe that the truest form of education is life itself.  We all experience and go through different walks of life, events, etc and we need to take those experiences and learn from them.

What kind of art is your favorite? Why? For me, it’s music.  I’ve always felt a strong connection to music.  Growing up, music was a big part of our lives.  Both my parents love to listen to music.  My mom has a gorgeous voice and an exceptional piano talent.  She passed those things down to both my brother and I.  As a kid I took piano lessons and voice lessons.  Then, in middle school and high school I took voice lessons as well as participating in concert choir, chamber choir, concert band, and jazz band.  In college I participated in an all girls choir and 3 years in a vocal jazz group!  I still love to sing and if you ever meet me on the road, you’ll probably notice that I’m holding my own concert, every single day!  (Not to play favorites or leave him out, my dad doesn’t have hardly any “talent” when it comes to music (couldn’t hold a tune in a bucket), but he’s got one of the biggest passions and hearts for music that I’ve ever met.  He LOVES listening to music and was always our biggest fan growing up at our concerts!)

Is there something that you memorized long ago and still remember?  YES!! The books of the bible!  We had to memorize them for Sunday school memory work and confirmation and I’ll never forget them.  I also know the President’s in order as well (at least up to George H Bush because that’s who was in office)!  Yes, I know who since…they just don’t fit into the song.  (Thanks to a song we learned in middle school).

Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up? I’m grateful for my family who love me and all three of my boys and have welcomed R & M as their own and support them and cheer them on as their own!  Coming up this week, I’m looking forward to my first city council meeting in my new job as well as the bittersweet moments of watching the boys’ last football games of the season!
