Danna’s Bar-B-Que & Burger Shop: Branson, MO

Danna's Bar-B-Cue

We Love Branson

Who doesn’t love some good barbecue?!  And who doesn’t love a quaint locally owned joint?!  That’s exactly what you get at Danna’s Bar-B-Que & Burger Shop in Branson, MO!  T and I recently returned from a 5 day getaway to Branson! Can you believe we haven’t had a vacation (just the two of us) since our honeymoon over 5 years ago?!  We decided it was time and Branson was an easy choice since we loved it so much last summer!

Picking where to eat when we are on vacation or going on a date can be the longest undertaking!  Usually I’m craving a specific cuisine or I can’t decide at all!  The first night we were in Branson, I left all the picking and deciding up to T!  This doesn’t happen often, so he took advantage of it!

We spent this stay at the Suites at Fall Creek which is between the main strip of Branson and Table Rock Lake!  Because of this (combined with many hours of driving and being in the car), he didn’t want to travel far for something to eat, so he decided to explore the few restaurants near us! After reading reviews and examining menus, he settled on Danna’s Bar-B-Que & Burger Shop.

Visiting Danna’s BBQ & Burger Shop

One of the greatest things about Danna’s Bar-B-Que is that it is very unassuming.  In a land (Branson) where most places have bright neon lights and a certain theme, Danna’s gets lost to those not looking for it!  (Trust me, we totally missed it on our last trip!)  But, sandwiched between a hotel/lodge and a very impressive baptist church, you’ll find it!  I’ll admit that I was skeptical when we pulled in the driveway (and even after walking in the front door)!  But, I was trusting T and feeling semi-adventurous, plus it smelled AMAZING!

When you enter, you’ll notice that the tables are set in red & white check tablecloths with large rolls of brown paper towels on them!  You stand in line and order from at a counter.  And while the menu is small, it has something for everyone from pulled pork to fried catfish!  T ordered the pulled pork and I ordered the 1/2 smoked chicken.  All platters come with the same things: fries, baked beans, coleslaw, and something they call a Memphis roll!  After order, seat yourself and wait for your food to be brought to you!  The wait is not long and your large platters will be in front of you shortly!

The Bar-B-Cue!

Truly, T and I can’t rave enough about the food!  The chicken and pork were barbecue at it’s finest!  Smoky, tender, juicy, and done to perfection!  The baked beans got great reviews from both of us and the coleslaw was fresh!  We both thought the fries were excellent!  The flavor and the crisp..it was all good!  In fact, we agreed that the sign of a good french fry is whether you need ketchup or not…these did not! 🙂

The Memphis Roll

And now…let me tell you about the Memphis Roll: hot, crisp and buttery with a slightness of sweet on the outside with the softest bread on the inside!  You know you found a good man when he relinquishes his roll to you because you won’t shut up about how good you think they are! (Yeah, he really is that good!)  I’ve already decided that when we return, I’m ordering an extra roll!  I’ve never heard of them before and have never tried anything like them, but dang they are good!  And I can’t be the only one who thinks they are that good because you can actually order them from the “side” menu (either a single or an entire dozen!)

  4. I was in Branson for a week and ate there every day but Sunday. They are closed then. I had something every time. Can’t go wrong with anything and the prices are good. Did you try the desserts? Not to be missed either.
