Friday in Franklin County: AmericInn of Hampton

Friday in Franklin

As you age you watch the community around you evolve and grow. Part of those observations for me is remembering when the AmericInn of Hampton was built. Now, it’s a staple in the community!

On July 3rd of 1998, the AmericInn of Hampton was opened by previous owners.  They saw a need in Hampton and jumped at the opportunity!  I remember, at the time, it was a huge deal that Hampton was getting a chain hotel that was locally owned.  Now, the hotel is owned by Bharat Patel who is very involved in the community and continues to keep the hotel updated!americinn 2

The hotel boasts 41 rooms which include whirlpool suites. They also have a heated indoor pool, dry sauna, hot tub, and recreation area with a pool table and arcade games.  The hotel also has a very homey lobby area with a fireplace, sitting area and a very welcoming breakfast area.  They also offer a meeting room, which is available for rent to anyone (not just guests).  We’ve held a birthday party there (you get access to the pool) and it was great!  While their facilities are top notch, they pride themselves on hospitality.  They offer a clean, updated, and friendly place to stay when guests are away from home!

When I was speaking with Lori, manager of the AmericInn says that a lot of locals are suprised that they are as busy as they are!  She said that people assume that since they are located in a small town, that they aren’t very busy.  In reality, she says that they are busy year-round.  While I was visiting the facility, I was shocked at how busy they were (and it was 4PM on a Tuesday!)  That is so fantastic for a community!

When I asked Lori what her favorite part of the job was, she replied with “The Guests”!  She meets new people every day & also gets to reconnect with people from the past!  She says that many of her guests stay several times throughout the year and often feel like family members!

Lori says that the best part of managing a business in Hampton is being part of a group of business owners who are working together!  She also says that being part of Franklin County is great because they are a part of the tourism being brought to the county & giving tourists a great place to stay while they are here!  The AmericInn slogan is “America’s welcoming neighbor” and Lori and her staff strive to fulfill that every single day!

What are her hopes and dreams for the property?  This past year, they were recognized as “Property of the Year” by the AmericInn franchise.  This means they were selected as the top property of 200 AmericInn facilities.  She is very proud of this and would love to be recognized for their hard work again!  She also wants their new and returning guests to feel welcome each and every time they walk through the door!  They want to help the guests feel like they are “HOME” regardless of how long they are there!  (I was only there for about 20 minutes and they had already made me feel that way!)

When I asked her what their hours were, she simply replied with “You are welcome to the end of the day” or 24 hours a day as it may be!  I love it and I know you will too if you book a stay at the AmericInn of Hampton!  When you get there, make sure to tell them Katy sent you!  😉
